At first glance Brentwood
appears to be a small sleepy town. Looks can be deceiving as Brentwood is the home of
county government. On the West side of town, Brentwood hosts the NH Superior Court of
Rockingham County, probate court, county attorney's office, registry of deeds, county
jail, county nursing home, adult day care, cooperative extension and nutrition program. On
the East side of town, the University of New Hampshire wildlife research station studies
the feeding habits of deer, fox and coyote.
Community spirit prevails
in Brentwood. Volunteers produce a quarterly newsletter to keep residents informed.
Volunteers built a children's playground, added a wing to the library, work in the
Rockingham County Nursing Home, assist in the school and library and the list could go on
with youth groups and other activities, but the point is that this is a very community
spirited town. The annual 4th of July parade and the Harvest Dinner at the Congregational
Church are times when the community comes together. Lindy's Country Store provides a place
for residents to gather.
Brentwood is acclaimed as the "Gateway to New England's Northern
Seacoast," with its three rivers - the Deer, the Little and the Exeter. Perhaps the
key to Brentwood's salability is its family oriented life style. If you are thinking of
